Recycling & Gardening with Worms - Workshop with The Worm Shed

Kevin and Debbie from The Worm Shed will lead a fun and practical workshop on worm farming, showing participants how to turn food waste into a valuable resource for their gardens.

Topics covered include:

  • Setting up and maintaining a thriving worm farm

  • Tips for keeping worms healthy during summer

  • Using worm castings and leachate to enrich soil and support plant growth

Subsidised worm farm offer
City of Armadale residents who attend the workshop are eligible for a $160 subsidy on the Mega Worm Café kit. This advanced set-up includes:

  • Worm Café worm farm

  • 1kg live worms (approx. 4000)

  • 15 litres of castings for bedding

  • 500g dolomite

  • Worm blanket

  • Comprehensive instruction booklet

The kit costs $260, but with the subsidy applied, participants pay just $100.

How to claim the subsidy:

  1. Pre-order the worm farm when registering for the workshop.

  2. Attend the workshop with proof of address.

  3. Pay for the kit on the day (cash preferred).

  4. Take the worm farm home and start composting with worms.

This workshop offers an excellent opportunity for residents to learn sustainable gardening practices, reduce household waste, and make the most of the City’s subsidy program.
