Recycling Facility Tour

Keen to see what actually happens to your waste once it leaves your verge? Would you like to learn a bit more about how you can make a difference to the environment by placing your waste in the correct bin? At the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre you can come and see exactly what happens to your waste. O
On the tour you will get to see:
?? The FOGO Processing Facility, where FOGO (food organics, garden organics) material is pre-processed to remove contamination.
?? The Green Waste Facility, where garden waste is turned into mulch.
?? The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where recyclables are separated, baled and sold for reuse.
?? The Education Centre, where there are lots more resources to help you to reduce, reuse and recycle.

The tour involves spending approximately 30-40 minutes walking outdoors on bush paths around the site. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required. Fully enclosed footwear is essential for all attendees . We strongly recommend you wear long pants, a hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle. Kids (older than 6 years of age) are welcome on the tour – they must be registered for their own ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Visitors that have any allergies such as bee stings must bring an Epipen with them. Please note: in spring and summer, snakes begin to emerge to bask in the sun and there may be an increase in sightings around the facility. In the unlikely event of a situation, your tour guide is trained in first aid should an emergency arise.

?? STAIRS– Two separate staircases of approximately 40 STAIRS each. Platforms are located approximately every ten stairs (alternative options may be available – please contact the Waste Education Officer to discuss) ??

This is a free event ??????. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and a light morning tea will be provided at the end of the tour.
