WasteSorted Schools plastics and organics workshop - Wyndham

Join WasteSorted Schools for a practical, inspiring day focused on reducing, reusing and recovering organic and plastic waste in your school community. Whether you're just getting started or looking to build on existing initiatives, this workshop will equip you with ideas, tools and connections to take your waste education to the next level.

Some topics we cover in the morning:

• Getting accredited as a WasteSorted School
• Assessing your school waste
• Setting up your infrastructure to address plastic & organic waste diversion
• Accessing WasteSorted Schools grants for projects
• Curriculum resources
• Success stories from Regional and Aboriginal community schools

Hands-on afternoon workshop features the following plastics and organics activities:

• Making beeswax wraps
• Addressing Containers for Change contamination
• Composting in the Science curriculum
• Growing grassy heads 

Learn from local experts, including presenters from

• Kununurra Community Garden who will demonstrate composting in the Wyndham DHS garden
• Containers for Change

The workshop is suitable for primary and secondary school staff including teachers, principals, administration staff, gardeners and parents. The workshop is FREE and relief reimbursement is available for TWO staff (teachers, EA's and gardeners) from each school.

We know the distances may preclude face-to-face attendance for some so you can also join us online for the morning session only from 9:30 am – 11:30 am and still gain valuable insights (a half day relief is covered).
