The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), through the WasteSorted Schools program of the Waste Authority, collects personal information such as:
- your name, email (preferably your work email address) and
- school name as provided by you
- Information provided in applications, forms, or supporting documents
- In some cases, we may collect sensitive information where it is required and authorised by law.
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to perform WasteSorted Schools program functions in order to:
- register your attendance at our event (if any),
- register your details as a contact for a specific grant application (if any), and
- register you as a contact for your school.
We are collecting this information to provide you and your school with follow up information, support, advice and opportunities as part of the Waste Sorted Schools program.
You are required to provide this personal information as the Waste Sorted Schools is a program of the Waste Authority administered by DWER. Providing this information is required to enable DWER to process your event registration, accreditation submission or grant application (if any).
Your personal information will be used for the purpose for which it was collected, or for a related purpose, where permitted by law.
DWER may share this information with:
- Local Government Waste Educators or
- DWER contracted service providers assisting with the delivery of the WasteSorted Schools program.
- Other parties where required or authorised by law where necessary to support service delivery or regulatory functions.
If you do not provide the required information, DWER may be unable to process your event registration, accreditation, grant application request or provide support information.
DWER will handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA), and DWER’s published privacy and responsible information-handling framework.

- the WSS portal, please log in and update your details;
- the Smartygrants portal, please log in and update your details.
