Repair Lab Melville

Need something fixed? Don't throw it out, bring it to Repair Lab!

About this event

Repair Lab is a free community drop in event to help people fix their belongings and save things from going to landfill. Skilled volunteers will help you with repairs of bicycles, computers, electrical appliances, household items and textiles. If you're unsure, bring it down and we'll see what we can do!

Also at this event:

  • As part of Buy Nothing New Month, Waste Education Officer Leah Adams will be running 15min mini workshops to make your own cleaning products using cheap, eco friendly products and reusing jars and bottles
  • Buy Nothing Market Day presented by the Brentwood Village Town Team. Bring along your unwanted items to gift, or find a treasure to take home with you!
  • Neighbourhood Watch Melville promoting public safety and crime prevention products
  • The Rolling Bean will be providing caffeinated goodness . Please remember to bring your Keep Cup! There will be some reusable mugs on site in case you forget.

House Rules:

  • Only one item is repaired at a time - if you have multiple items, you'll need to join the queue again. This ensures everyone gets to be seen at least once by a Repairer.
  • Please show your gratitude and respect for our Volunteer Repairer by staying with them for the duration of your repair - have a chat, you might learn a thing or two!
  • We cannot guarantee a successful repair, however our Volunteer Repairers will do their best to help you free of charge with the time, tools and skills they have available. Advice will be provided if your item is unable to be repaired.
  • We are unable to accommodate dogs at this event, please leave them at home.

Getting here:

Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre is accessed from the westbound lanes on Leach Hwy. If the Leach Hwy carpark is full, there is additional parking near the Piney Lakes Sensory Playground on Murdoch Drive (but please note that this is a ten minute walk to the centre).

COVID Requirements

  • Proof of vaccination is now mandatory to enter the building. Some repair services will be available outside the centre to allow accessibility to all.
